On Farming in Indonesia

Farming is a profession of hope,
Hope that seeds will become fruit
Hope that labor will become harvest
Hope for a future where we can feast together

We believe in training the next generation of farmers for Indonesia.

Agriculture employed more than 30% of Indonesia’s working adults, but being a farmer is unpopular for the young.

About 65% of Indonesian farmers is aged 45 years old and above. An overwhelming majority of these farming families expressed that they do not want their children to be farmers, and their children also said that they do not want to be farmers.

Farming in Indonesia has many challenges, from the need for better training for increasing productivity, to fairer pricing and more price stability, to the need for improved infrastructure to farms and more.

While we can’t change the whole system, we want to give hope for farmers starting from our own fields.

At our vegetable farm, Rosy's Veggies, we give our farmers fair wages and thorough training in organic farming. We also open our doors to agricultural students who are willing to learn. We hope that there will be more in the next generation who will get their feet dirty and join us as farmers too!
